Have you ever had a smile cross your face at something ordinary? My home is on a little cove in a bit of paradise in Southwest Florida. Last evening as I was listening to the sound of fish jumping and birds calling I saw something that made a huge grin come to my face. What an incredible moment.
A beautiful, graceful blue heron had been walking across a neighbor's yard. Without fanfare it decided it was time for a little flight across the water. How lucky was I to be there at that moment! This magnificent bird doesn't seem to be ideally designed for flight but don't bet against him. Those wings stretched out and slow, deliberate motions looked like an ice skater gliding effortlessly across smooth ice. The tips of the wings couldn't have been more than a feather's width from the surface of the water. The shadow cast was crisp.
That 30 seconds of watching a heron in flight has brought such joy to me. I hope you can "see" what I saw through these words. And, if not, maybe a trip to Southwest Florida might bring a smile to your face.
There are many moments that give me a chance to appreciate nature as I work with real estate in Naples, Marco Island and Isles of Capri. If you'd like to see what the real estate in this area looks like, please look at www.ArMarco.com.
